Job Opening: Specialist Editor -- Food/Healthy Living -- The Record (Bergen County, NJ)

Do you know the difference between barbecuing and grilling? Between sucrose and corn syrup? Between average features sections … and really great ones? The Record, New Jersey’s second-largest daily newspaper, is looking for an editor who will oversee its food, health and fitness coverage.

In addition to at least five years of editing experience, this editor must have a boundless enthusiasm for and a vast knowledge of food, dining, nutrition, fitness, diet and health issues. Versatility, creativity, imagination and superior planning skills are a must, as is experience working with staff writers, freelancers and the paper’s restaurant reviewer.

The Record, with a circulation of about 150,000 daily and 180,000 Sunday, is family-owned and located in North Jersey. It has won the "General Excellence Award" as New Jersey's best large daily newspaper (for circulation more than 60,000) in eight of the past 10 years, including the past three years. The newspaper is located within 30 minutes of Times Square in Manhattan and is a short drive from the Shore and the mountains. Our company also owns the Herald News, a small daily, and about 60 weekly newspapers and magazines.
