Freelance Journalist
contact DAVID PLICKDear Writer,
The editors of Construction magazine, an online magazine to launch this spring, are calling for submissions. Construction, which was conceived in Brooklyn and South Korea in October 2010, by four graduates of The City College of New York creative writing MFA program, seeks to use art, fiction, poetry, essays, interviews and journalism to create and support a cross-cultural community by publishing works from the United States and beyond.
Currently we are seeking out journalism or personal essays on the situation in Japan and the situation in the Middle East (we are also open to other queries). The piece can be anywhere from 1,000-6,000 words—we are seeking a similar style to the The New Yorker's, “Letter from _______” pieces. We are also looking for an opinion piece on the situation in Wisconsin. We already have two articles from the pro-union side, and we would like one from a pro-Walker point of view. We don’t have a set deadline, but as we are launching soon, we are looking for something pretty urgently.
Please submit your work to constructionlitmag@gmail.
We look forward to reading,
Masha Udensiva-Brenner, David Plick, Domenick Acocella (the one in South Korea), and Nathan Schiller
