The  Times-Standard, a small daily newspaper in Eureka, is looking for someone to cover law enforcement and the courts, along with a little bit of everything, while living along the beautiful coastline of Northern California. We're looking for a creative, innovative writer to help coordinate coverage in a competitive environment with strong community readership. Strong proof-reading, writing and organization skills a must. It is a Mon. to Fri. shift with a rotating Sat. shift. Our newsroom is fun, competitive and fast-paced. The reporters are motivated, self starters. Our focus is on community reporting with an emphasis on issue-orientated coverage and a strong Web presence. The rugged coastal setting is a recreational paradise with an abundance of opportunities for cycling, hiking, camping, kayaking, surfing, mountain biking and more. We are a family-friendly newspaper that offers a competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, 401K and vacation.

Starting reporters are at $12 per hour, experience is a consideration.
